    Dear e-Subscribers,

Much is happening this fall in preparation for the next 18 months of programming. To this end, the Board of Directors met on October 30th and set the stage for seeking foundation grants, building robust learning- dialog activities across the West Central Florida area and planning for the 8th Annual Eternal Light Dinner. The Board also expressed its best wishes, thoughts and prayers for the complete healing of its dear friend William Cardinal Keeler, Archbishop of Baltimore following the auto accident in Italy.

    First Grant Request Under Way

The Center has teamed up with the Cannon Memorial Library of Saint Leo University to make application for the Center's first ever grant filing. If chosen, a fall-winter 2007 program titled "Jewish Adventures in the Graphic Novel" would be offered to adults in the community under the auspices of the American Library Association. The program involves participants reading from 1-5 novels followed by dialog under leadership of a qualified PhD scholar. The grant provides for training, materials and funds for conducting the 5 sessions. As the grant approval results become known, we will provide more detail. Some highlights of the program may be found by clicking onto the logo on the left.

Prince of Peace Parish Hosts Board in Sun City

Monsignor Harold Bumpus, Pastor of Prince of Peace Parish in Sun City Center, FL hosted the Board of Directors at its October 30th Board Meeting. The Board has spread its meetings in a variety of locations around the Tampa Bay Area from Sarasota up through Pasco County. We are grateful to Msgr. Bumpus for his gracious hospitality in assisting the Center in carrying on its work.

    Receiving an Invitation...

If you have not received an invitation in the past to the Eternal Light Award Dinner and desire to receive one, please go to the link (image on the left or word- link below) and contact us via e-mail. The 8th Annual Eternal Light Award Dinner is scheduled for February 18, 2007 in Sarasota, FL and will honor Rabbi A. James Rudin for his life's work in building understanding among Catholics and Jews. The dinner is an annual fundraising event with tickets available for $250 each ($175 being tax-deductible) and sponsorship levels obtainable above that amount. This annual dinner is a significant source of the Center's funding for the upcoming year.
