    Dear e-Subscriber,

As we get older, many of us become more conscious of our faults and failings. In my case I'm well aware of a major lack of one virtue (patience) and a struggle with one of our Catholic 'seven deadly sins' (pride). The former I am hopelessly doomed to never obtain and having been a longtime banking executive had a difficult time understanding why it was even a virture. The latter just baffles me in the many layers of "pride" which can exist and I'm still reading up on that sin. So, let me thus confess to being extremely prideful about the Center's website and where we are at this time. I also note that some readers went (or rather were taken) to an old domain name last month and were lost in 'internet etherworld' and we have now corrected that failing. Our former domain name has now been re-acquired such that fewer folks would get lost again looking for our site. I feel so much better for having gotten all that guilt off my chest :)

    New Online Religious Resources

The Cannon Memorial Library at Saint Leo University has two new resources which might be of great interest to Center for Catholic Jewish Studies e- Subscribers. Both can be found by going through the links on the library webpage. Elana Karshmer on the reference desk reports having access to Encyclopedia Judaica (via the Gale Virtual Reference Library) and the New Catholic Encyclopedia.

    Partnership Meeting Yields Plans

Saint Leo's Cannon Memorial Library Director and staff, Brent Short and Carol Moon, hosted a June 11th meeting to organize the library-Center partnership events for the fall 2007 and spring 2008 focusing on Christian-Jewish education and dialogue topics. Shown in photo from that meeting are Dr. Michael Tkacik, Brent Short, Carol Moon and Jane Bracken.

    St. Petergburg College Lecture

On June 19th, Tom Buckridge provided a lecture to Dr. Donald Davis' class on "Creative Problem Solving." Tom presented interfaith relations as a template to bringing people of different backgrounds together and gave concrete examples which could be applied to the secular world. St. Petersburg College is located in Pinellas County, Florida and is part of the State University system of colleges and universities. Shown in the photo are Dr. Donald Davis (left) with Tom Buckridge.

    Pride in our Website

Back to that 'pride' topic. We indeed do take pride in our website and in all those including our webmaster who contribute to its ongoing update. If you have not been there in a while, you'll see we have begun a search engine within the site and will shortly be populating archives for retrieval. Your friends can also sign up on-line to e-Subscribe to these monthly e- Letters. Materials are refeshened each month and often more frequently, so please visit it often.
